Hey it's me.
Recently I noticed that the senior blog was still in my bookmarks bar so I decided to click on it and check out the new changes. My (semi-)surprise was that there were no new changes, no new posts, comments, or polls. Actually, the last post since this one was posted on May 10, which was almost a month ago.
I'm writing this post to ask what the class thinks of the senior blog, and what future (if it has one) is in store. First, it'd be nice to know who actually checks the blog, maybe you could let me and the other members of the class know by commenting under this post.
I also wanted to know your opinions on if we should continue this blog to keep in touch after we graduate from Mirman. Maybe we could start a new blog similar to this. I think a blog would be the best way to keep in touch. I think it'd be cool to keep in touch, even if infrequently. I don't know about you guys, but my experience with this class as a whole has been special, so it'd be nice to not lose it all after Friday.
Just wanted to know your take on things.
JS.

Earth Day
OK. FIrst of all, happy holidays and spring break. I hope you're all doing fine wherever you are. Also, good luck with Thespian and JCL, since I won't be seeing any of you at either. Too bad I can't go (for me at least, since I had wanted to go). However, my own spring break won't be miserable: I have a couple cello competitions on Saturday, but then on that same day I fly to England. And aside from the competitions and the flight to England, Saturday happens to be my birthday (it sucks to do competitions on your birthday)... and Earth Day!
Which brings me to what I'm gonna say about Earth Day. I just found out a few days ago that during this year's Earth Day (Saturday March 29/my birthday) there's going to be an Earth Hour (8pm), where major cities from around the world will stop using electricity, gas, etc.
The idea is that that whole city will turn black, and that even if it will only turn black for an hour, that hour will be symbolic in the change we humans (that's us, in case you didn't know) will need to fight global warming. So basically, these cities are going to 'switch off' for an hour.
Which cities? I don't know all of them, but some cities are definitely Brisbane, Copenhagen, Chicago, Melbourne, Tel Aviv, and Toronto.
Anyway, I thought it was a totally awesome idea, and I hope someone takes a photo from outerspace or whatever so I can see the 'blackout' in those cities. Maybe I'll see the 'blackout' on my plane trip to England.
Excuse my childish enthusiasm, but if Earth Hour works, I think it'll be pretty darn exciting (I don't need to be witty or cynical when if comes to the well being of our planet).
So since I thought it was cool, I decided to post this up on the blog for you all to see, whether you knew about this or not.
Have a great spring break, once again.
Juan-Salvador

Shakespeare Quotes
Hey Evan it is Davis.
If the quotation is fewer than four lines,
1. Use quotation marks around it
2. Cite the act, scene and line number(s) in parentheses as below
3. Use a slash (/) to separate line.
Example:
"rebellious subjects, enemies to peace,/Profaners of this neighbor-stained-steel--" (I,i,81-2).
When citing the quote remember the Act is big roman numeral, the scene a small one and the lines written as 20-4 for instance.
If the quotation is four or more line:
1. Indent the entire quote
2. Single space or double space it
3. Do not put quotation marks around it
4. Double space both before and after the quote
5. Do not use slases
6. Cite the act, scene and line numbers in parentheses, after the end punctuation.
I hope this helps

Quote for yearbook
Hey everyone! This is Ellie. This post is only directed at Davis (sorry, but this is the smartest way to reach people for yearbook I guess, cause we're always using the blog). I need to know if "When you look at Reggie, what do you see?" can be used for your quote cause we need one more. Let me know ASAP (by commenting or something). If you don't like it, make up your own by tonight and put it as a comment or else the yearbook people will just come up with one for you.
Thanks
Peace and love,

Kristin Chenoweth
I know this is really really irrelevant to everything but... you HAVE to see this. Kristin Chenoweth who is in Pushing Daisies which will return next season, can really sing! Seriously! If you haven't heard Ms. Samson listen to "Taylor the Latte Boy" yet, you should, it's funny. But this video is REALLY amazing. She's a great performer! Ok im done with my rant, just watch the video!

THESP FEST ALERT
hey...
just a yearbook photo reminder -- during third period tomorrow, we're going to take a group thespian photo.
also, this is the time of year when the yearbook people start breathing down our necks to get the spreads in so the books can be printed -- so, please please please get your photos (baby and current) in for tomorrow, or i will be forced to unleash the evil yearbook wolves and let them eat you... :) thanks!
seriously, though... we keep them in mrs. samson's closet.

Senior Quotes, Most Likely Tos, Known Fors, and Bests...
Ok. this is what everyone needs:
jr- you chose "known for blaming others for no apparent reason," and although I'm not 100% sure most of us know that side of you I guess it's ok... but if you think of a better one, go ahead. you also need a "best"
michael- you ONLY need a "best"
rick- you need a most likely to.
zoey- you need a known for.
kayla- you need a quote, a best, and a most likely to
ellie- think of another quote if you can... you have "peace and love" which is acceptable but... you also need a known for
nick- you need a most likely to
Salvador- you need a known for, most likely to, and quote
Evan- you need a quote
Maddy- you need a quote, known for, most likely to. for some reason I recall having those done but they are not on the list so if I overlooked something, tell me!
Alexander- you need a quote (unless you want it to be "hey, you guys, where's Nick?" but a funnier one would be lovely). you also need a best, and I need to know whether you like "known for contorting his face into strange expressions."
Faliure to come up with any of these, we will result in the yearbook staff making them up for you which may not please you once you open the yearbook in June. Your response can be a comment under this post, or you can text or call me (310)3100121. Or tell me at school tomorrow... if you don't forget! Also, tell your parents that we need those baby pictures in and also a NICE recent photo of JUST you. Recent as in summer 2007 thru present date. The photos Zoey took of the girls DO NOT count as the one's your parents need to turn in. They are being used elsewhere in the Senior Pages. It would be nice if the baby pictures were on a CD, but if they're NOT then just turn them by THIS WEDNESDAY in as they are into Ms. Samson's box in the front office. We will scan them in. that's what your parents need to know. Alrighty well c u l8r everyone!

We are the Seniors!
Ok. so. being a senior is great and it gets better once you figure out you best, most likely to, and known for! This of course, is for the senior pages. If you don't know what I'm referring to by Best, Most Likely To and Known for this is a brief explanation.
Best: not like best smile or best laugh. something that highlights a unique characteristic of yourself. like ellie could be- "best fog-horn" or t could be "best 'buddy'"
Most Likely To: This is pretty obvious. Don't make them too serious but make sure they are witty. wittiness is fun. And if you say "most likely to never think of a most likely to," that is a counterexample of wittiness. don't say that or else.
Known for: Can you mold a brief list of your interests into one sentence? Or what is something you do a lot that is either funny or you can phrase to make a funny statement? I apologize for my awkward sentences but you get the idea. It can be short and sweet, too. Just make sure it isn't boring. For example... hmmm... Michael- Known for being a cat.
Next... quotes! NOT a long philosophical quote someone else said like "they can because they think they can-cicero." no. something funny you've said in the past, or say a lot. example: salvador: "i crack myself up like a chipped teapot." he did say that on aim. or, following the latter suggestion, ella: rick, stop it! don't do it! NO STOP IT RICK!
Lastly. A general message you leave to the class. Nothing elaborate or too specific. But try to mean what you say. A weak example is: "I will miss each and every one of you! Don't forget me!" Make it better than that though. This part really shouldn't take more than 1 minute of thinking. Really. Not much brainpower needed.
Here's the deal. By friday during science you will have an strong idea of what you want and we will take 5 minutes out of the class to get them in order and have them written down and ready for the yearbook. So start thinking. If you need help thinking about it ask your friends what's most memorable about you or something like that. Because after all we DO want to remember YOU. well most of you. jk jk. Alrighty then. C u 2mrw!

GIRLS!
Hey!
So, I am officially inviting all the senior girls to my house Saturday, March 1 -- Please meet at the Majestic Crest (see info below) for a 12:00 PM showing of "The Other Boleyn Girl". The film is PG-13 so everyone should be able to see it! Also, it is starring Scarlett Johansen, Natalie Portman, Eric Bana, Jim Sturgess (Jude from "Across the Universe") and Kristin Scott Thomas! I read the book a while ago and it still remains one of my favorites, so I am very excited to see this "sexy, good-looking political bodice-ripper with an almost flawless cast at the top of its game." Hehe. okay, enough about that....After the show we will somehow figure out how to get all of us back to my house for the photo shoot. By the end of the day, everyone will have a headshot they love! I am so determined. You will walk out with a new favorite picture of yourself even if we have to work aaaaall day long! I have some other fun things for us to do up my sleeve... ;) Anyways, my address is...
2261 Manning Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90064
Pickup can be anytime that is convenient for your parental units, however 8-8:30 should be the latest I think...
The movie theatre is...
The Majestic Crest
1262 Westwood Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90024
Please keep in mind that even though the show starts at noon, we have to buy tickets and make sure that everyone is sitting together, so please arrive a little bit beforehand!
Thank you all! and thanks to the boys for tolerating this long, girl-centric message on the blog!
I'm so excited! :)

Two Very Important Announcements
1. Friday is crazy hair day for the seniors. Go crazy with gel, pins, hairspray, ribbons, clips, get an absurd hairstyle or whatever. Just do something different.
2. Just a reminder for the girls about the Zoey Headshot House thing. I don't have the details because I'm not Zoey so you should ask her and then edit this post so that it has all the information. Or Zoey can do that herself.
By the way... for those of you who have been absent.... that would actually only be Nick but... as of today, it seems we're doing Seussical. Why do I come to such conclusion? Because that's all we've been singing and because Mr. Maynard has only positive comments to say about it. The only negatives he had was the harmonies are hard to get. And because the reason he hasn't yet told us what the musical is... is because he's waiting for the scripts from New York. We know he has the Music Man scripts, Lucky Stiff scripts, and How To Succeed scripts, plus a Seussical DVD... but no script! According to a certain faculty member who will remain unnamed on this blog, he is waiting for TWO scripts. He must be waiting for Guys and Dolls and Seussical and since we haven't sung anything from Guys and Dolls... you see where I'm going? Also, according to that same faculty member, the most considered is Seussical. Lastly, today afterschool a few other seniors and I were chatting with Brennan... and we said "guess what Brennan it seems we're going to do Seussical!" and he said "oh yeah! i saw the-" we cut him off at that point with a loud "WHAT DID YOU SEE?" At which point he said... "hehe. nothing." Yeah. Just thought you'd like to know. Most of us agree that we're doing Seussical anyway. Well have fun doing homework (especially mr. sewell's class). see you tomorrow!

Character Roles
Ok. I think I know what the four female and 3 male leads or supporting roles will be... if we do How To Succeed, which I think we will. It took me a while to do this but I found out what all the character's voice ranges are... so that helps. Ok here we go.
Finch (lead)-Nick
Biggley (supporting)- Salvador (both biggley and salvador are bass/baritones)
Bud Frump (supporting, antagonist)-Alexander (baritone/tenor)
I'm not sure about the rest of the male roles because they are mostly baritones and we have more tenors than baritones. Ok now for the female roles.
Rosemary (lead)- Maddie (mezzo-lowerish... maddie IS soprano but she can sing low too)
Smitty (supporting)- Evan (Both Smitty and Ev are the lowest female roles or singers... so naturally...)
Hedy LaRue (supporting)- zoey/ella (intuitive)
Miss Jones (supporting)- T! (After all, both Miss Jones and T are sopranos)
Ok well i could be wrong but i think this is it! After all I AM psychic. Well actually I based it partially on last years rolls... it'll probably be pretty much the same i think, no matter what musical we do. We'll see... what do YOU guys think?

I'm here to announce the exciting news...

Good luck with the play, for everyone in the play.

Hey guys!
Dr. Garrard just emailed me and asked if she could present the homepage of our blog (not individual postings) to an Educational Technology Committee presentation. I think this sounds fine, but obviously it is not my decision. Please post your opinion and I'll let her know our final answer!
See ya tomorrow at breakfast!

Mirman Seniors myspace
I just googled mirman seniors and the first hit was the mirman seniors '06 (aka the katie-michael senior class) myspace page. It would be pretty cool to have a myspace or facebook for our class, maybe after we've left Mirman. I realize that Alexander has so thoughfully created a blog for this purpose, but on myspace we can also keep in touch with pictures. I definitely want to see what everyone looks like afterwards. Anyway, I'll see you guys at school tomorrow, and have fun watching the office or whatever you watch thursday nights (Ill be tuned into Smallville).

January
Ok. I know that writing on the blog on New Year's Day is one of the lamest things I can do on New Year's Day. So why am I doing it? I don't quite know. Well, actually, I sort of do. It's just that I've introduced the months November and December on the blog, so I thought, why not January? Now I can introduce not only a new month but a new year. 2008! So without further ado...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE BEEN ENJOYING THE BREAK!!!
I'm looking forward to a lot of things this year, least of all leaving Mirman, and most of all, leaving Mirman! I'm also looking forward to all the things I'll be doing at Mirman this year, especially the things I don't know I'm looking forward to yet. Of course, I'm pretty sure that I'm looking twice as forward to the things I don't know I'm looking forward to yet, outside of Mirman, than the things I'm thus looking half as forward to that I don't know I'm looking half as forward to yet, inside Mirman. I feel I can justify this claim because I really don't know anything about the things I don't know I'm looking forward to, outside or inside of Mirman, so I really am free to say whatever I want to say about the things I don't know I'm looking forward to, outside or inside of Mirman. This concept actually applies all the time, because the moment I know or experience something I didn't know I was looking forward to, it won't be something I don't know I'm looking forward to anymore, and so I won't need to comment on it as something I had been looking forward to twice or half as much as something else I had been looking forward to at a time that would then be irrelevent to that time I will be experiencing something I didn't know I was looking forward to.
This being said, I, therefore, am sincerely looking forward to seeing you all very soon (however much you may hate me for wasting so much time and blog space just for saying in such a ridiculously clumsy way that I am sincerely looking forward to seeing you all very soon).
Again, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
BYE!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

BYE!!!
